I broke down and bought the only aftermarket muffler I could find by Keleo, over $100, but I thought it would be worth it to finally fix all the problems. I bought a bag of 25 screws from micro-fasteners, but after a few trips to the field they were all gone.

Every 3rd flight the muffler would fall apart and I'd lose the screws which you couldn't get at the hardware store. Lock washers, locktite, tap for larger screws, silicone sealant. Next the two halves of the OS muffler would not stay together no matter what I did. I figured I was way too lean at 1/3 turn, but it was a cowl venting issue that was causing the overheating.

Long story short, even though the manual say 2-1/2 turns, if you end up between 1/4 and 1/2 turn, that's fine. When this plane is flying it is a joy to fly, but I don't think I have ever had more than 3 flights on it without something going wrong.ДЇirst it was an overheating problem on the OS pumped engine that I couldn't tune. One of the club members brought his camera to the field today and got a few shots. Vertical was not unlimited, but since I was under 8k and I should be getting closer to 9k I'll report back once it's running better. Because I was so far from what the manual said I didn't push it, but I'll start tweaking next time out. Manual says open the high speed needle valve 2-1/2 - 3 turns. I only tached the OS-200 before the maiden and I was well under 8000, so it will take some running in before I can say how the engine performs. We were probably thinking along the same lines when I said no way I'm going to mess up the plane's looks by hanging servos outside the fuse. I was wondering why you never reported back on your plane, it's good to know you just haven't flown it yet and not that it came to some tragic early demise. How do you like the os200 in this bird?
